Almost everything we do involves communication. Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life.

What is Makaton?

Makaton is a language programme that uses symbols, signs and speech to enable people to communicate. It supports the development of essential communication skills such as attention and listening, comprehension, memory, recall and organisation of language and expression. Makaton enables individuals, who may struggle with communication, to connect with the people and world around them.

In school, we have children who use Makaton and each week the whole school learns a new sign. Please see below for our sign of the week.
